Tonal Counterpoint: the original form of Pitch Polarity?

Yorùbá is a three-level tone language indigenous to southwestern Nigeria and Benin. In 1984, Ọlátúndé O. Ọlátúnjí identified a special feature of Yorùbá poetry called “tonal counterpoint”, in which a phrase ends high then low. This can be heard in the video (below) of young Ìjálá artist Mayowa Adeyemo, recorded by Aaron Carter-Ényì in Badagry, Lagos, Nigeria in July 2013.
